I got the best Valentine's Day gift ever yesterday. As I was walking to get Maisy from her classroom after school, she was sitting with her teacher outside the classroom. (She's the only one who doesn't ride the bus, so the other kids had already lined up and were headed to the buses.) I waved to her and hollered, "Hi, honey." She waved and said, "Mom," clear as day. I started to cry and said , "Yeah, Mom. I missed you." I picked her up and she gave me a big hug, then turned my face and gave me a kiss.
She has signed dad for a long time now, and has on occasion said mom, but not deliberately and not in way that associated the word with me. So it as really exciting to hear. Waiting for six years to hear only makes the word sweeter.
Maisy has been saying good appropriately as well. We ask her a question and she answers good. Since I caught this one on video, I had to share. I hope you like it as much as I do, I watch it over and over.

That is so sweet, I loved it! What a precious little girl :)
She has come so far from that little peanut I knew in the PICU... I thought so then and I think so now... You're SUCH a good Mommy :)
Oh, Somer! I love that! What a wonderful gift to hear your girl call you by name. And I watched the video over and over again, too. It gives me hope:) Miss you.
Got misty eyed watching the video. What a great mile stone and gift for Valentines Day! What great promise there is in her sweet voice.
Summer this just brought sweet tears to my eyes. What a beautiful gift Maisy is - today, and every day. I'm so excited to know that you received the greatest compliment a child can give to his or her mom. You deserve it.
Mom...there is no sweeter word...and there is no Mom sweeter than YOU, Somer! Yay for both of you!
GOOD...GOOOD...GOOD!!
So sweet! That really is the best Valentines gift a mom could ask for! I'm glad your precious girl is doing so well.
