A little over a week ago we called the Principal at the kids school and talked to him a little about Jack. He sat down with Jack and his teacher and then after school we visited with Jack and his teacher.
Apparently Jack is afraid of a couple of older boys that we go to church with as well as a boy he met once this summer. Lunch makes him especially nervous. He's afraid the boys will put him in a trash can and roll him around, and unfortunately this fear comes from experience. We talked to him about what he would like to do and he wants to stay in school (which makes me a little sad.) His teacher said he is doing great and is right on track with the other kids. We told her we intend to hold him back at some point and she suggested repeating kindergarten; which works well with our time frame. So, there you go a little update on Jack.

I'm so glad you updated. I've been thinking so much about Jack man lately....with Macks heading off to preschool all hesitant-like. Glad to know you figured out the root of the problem. Those stupid mean big boys....I'm sorry!
Shoot. Hate that. Why do kids have to be mean? Just an FYI- Jordan district almost NEVER allows students to repeat a grade- the only way we were able to do it with Max was to find a charter school that would take him for another year of kindergarten, and then put him back in Jordan for first. So, if you are going to have him repeat, do it there. (If you are moving back, which we all hope :)
Dear Jack,
Kees has asked on several occasions when he will get to see "that cool boy who played light sabers" with him again. In just a short amount of time you made a real impression. Thanks for being so awesome. You are welcome at our house any time!
