This seems to be the month for old habits. Jack is no longer potty trained. Somewhere between hospital stay and trip out of town, I lost ground with my littlest. What is it about old habits? Why are they so easy to go back to? Is it the unfamiliarity of the new that makes us return to the old, comfortable, familiar?
My niece is having an adjustment with the new baby. For six years, she was the baby. And it isn't that she doesn't love her new baby brother, it just changes everything. People come to see the baby, mom and dad are always holding the baby, Grandma and Grandpa drive down and sit with the baby. Some times it is hard to know where we fit in, when our life changes around us.
I haven't gotten up before 7:00 AM for two weeks. My warm bed and sleep have been winning over exercise, a quiet shower, and eating breakfast in peace. Then at 3:00 PM, I am once again tired.
Our house has lost the shine of New Year's Resolutions (which I didn't really make, I just wanted to be better with my time) and we are once again back to our old ways. They aren't really bad ways, just not the shiny new ones that made everything look fresh and pretty. Change is good, change is productive, but sometimes the way things were is comfortable. Sometimes it feels that I tried that and it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. So I guess while the weather is still cold and the yuckies are still upon us, we will linger in our old ways and enjoy their familiarity. Maybe when spring rolls around we'll do a little behavior Spring clean.

Springtime makes all the difference. I am sooo unproductive when it's cold outside! It was 80 degrees outside today and my kitchen is spotless. (Well, almost spotless. I had to take a computer break.) Hang in there!
I am so hoping that Spring does it for me to! I can hardly wait for the nice weather!!
