Going Home

September 22nd
I know that they say you can't go back, but if I close my eyes I'm a little girl again.
Standing on the beach, waves lapping against the shore, seagulls flying above. I can taste the sandy peanut butter sandwiches and the salt in the air.
But then it isn't my giggle I hear, instead its my kids. Playing in the water, splashing, running, jumping, kicking, trying to avoid the waves.
I open my eyes to see their smiles and think I don't want to go back, because going forward is even better.
