Fresh Start

One of my goals for the new year has been to finish (actually start and finish) the curtains for our front room. Evan built bookshelves last spring and I had yet to finish the drapes. So I set to work and made the valances and drapes for the two windows.
I love the colors and the fabric. The valances are from a beautiful crewel-work fabric imported from Germany and given to me when I visited a custom furniture shop. The drapes are an iridescent silk I bought at a deep discount. I love them. Now if only my other goals were working out better.
*For Renae and Jocelyn: Here is the full effect in the room, along with the bookshelves Evan built.
The drapes and valance, although the larger valance hangs funny from this angle because of the middle support on the curtain rod.
And an up close shot.

Beautiful colors! I too would love to see the whole thing. You two are quite the hands on-make it yourself pair, I love it. Great work, as always!!

I love love love those colors. Both the valance and the drapes look great!

It was fun running into you at walmart the other day. We should run into each other on purpose sometime!
