Winter in My Kitchen

I think it is safe to say that yesterday was a day of poop and problems, so today was the day of flour and fabric.  My morning started off getting the girls of to school followed by cartoons for the little ones so that I could jump in the shower.  I was throwing on my clothes to go check on Jack, Maisy had already joined me upstairs, when he walked in white head to toe and said, "Mom, can you keen me up?"  I said, "Jack, what is that?" Even though I knew very well what it was.   I cleaned up pasty Jack before I went to discover what had happened downstairs.

My mom and sister were on their way over for a day of crafts, so I decided to let them help me get rid of the flour paste that had coated every surface within reach of the bar stool. I'm really not sure how he managed all this without breaking anything. He had bowls and utensils, water and flour everywhere.
And since the sugar was feeling neglected, he decided to give it a little flour to play with, after all, flour is fun.
We followed the cleanup with lunch out (the kitchen was drying,) then naps for kids and sewing.  We had some drop-ins who brightened our day and shared some playing and Strawberry Napoleons. All in all a good day. Good laughs, good company, finished projects, clean canisters, and a freshly mopped floor.

I never would have known about the incident with the flour...you did a great job cleaning it up! It was so lovely chatting with you and your mom and sister. Now I can see why you are such a great woman! Feel free to drop in on us anytime:)

Little boys and flour are an amazing combination. In fact, I want you to see a picture that I'm certain you'll appreciate.

Go to my friend Tim's site and look under the section called Kids & Fam. It's almost half way down the page under April 14, 2008.

The site is http://www.bighairpreacher.com/

Summer, I read your blog all of the time. I'm amazed at your talent both for creating beautiful things, but even more so for recording beautiful memories and poignant insights. I feel like a guilty little cyberstalker, but it's for a good reason - I gain a lot from your eloquence.

Keep blogging. It's great to watch your family grow.
