Maiye, No!
I can't tell you how many times every day I hear, "Maiye, no!" Most often I say, "Jack, leave your sister alone." To which I hear a reply like, "Yucky." Well, I have learned the hard way that "yucky" requires further inspection.
Last week, I heard Maisy scream and ran outside where the two kids were playing near (a not always so watchful) Evan. Jack was saying, "Maiye, no." and dragging Maisy, with his hands under her arms, back to the garage. Apparently, she had been crawling out towards the street and she was very unhappy that he had stopped her.
This morning "Maiye, no!" meant "Maisy, don't empty the trash can," "Maisy, don't get into the mop water," and "Maisy, don't play my drums." Two required a "No, no Maisy." and one required a "Jack, share." I also got a little tap on the leg and Jack looked up at me and said, "Maiye up dere." And sure enough, Maisy was on the kitchen table. I'm glad for Maisy's little protector, even if she isn't. He sure helps me keep little miss messy out of trouble.
