Rag Curls

Ella has been asking me for curls, but usually our mornings are too crazy to curl a whole head of hair. I can braid Sadie's hair at night and she has waves in the morning, but this just doesn't work for Ella. We tried sponge rollers but she didn't like sleeping in them. So for picture day we tried rag curls. I used to put pin curls in my hair and I remebered seeing the little girls in Meet Me in St. Louis wearing their hair to bed tied up in strips of fabric. So I broke out the pile of selveges I cut from the baby blanket fabrics (can you believe that amongst our siblings we have three more babies on the way?) and we tied Ella's hair in rag curls.
The next morning, with a couple touch up curls from the curling iron, she had her curls. As an added bonus, it was fun to sit on the bed and visit with her while I wrapped her hair. Sometimes the low-tech way is the best.

by the way, I LOVE Heather Bailey's site. I have looked at it a long time ago, but found it again through your blog. Thanks for giving me another indulgence!
