Going to see the lights

My parents have a tradition of leftovers and lights. So the day after Thanksgiving, into the car went a pile of hats, mittens, scarves, coats, legwarmers, and boots, along with four little kids, one stroller and a wheelchair and we were off to Grandma and Grandpa's house. We bundled up and walked downtown to see the Christmas lights.
They were beautiful and so were the smiles. Sometimes, when you have kids, you can brave a few crowds for the sake of a little magic.
And it was quite magical. Maisy wanted to keep moving, but she would look up into the trees and be mesmerized by all the lights.
Jack uttered his favorite phrase, "Awetome." Which now sounds closer to awesome and he was right.
Sadie enjoyed the company as much as the lights and relished walking with her cousin.
And I think Ella was dreaming of hot chocolate a good majority of the time.
So we hurried home for hot chocolate and leftovers, and visited until the obvious signs of time to go home.
